Work safety is a priority, never an afterthought.

Safety is, and has always been a core element of DPS Group’s operations. We have been safely managing mobile crane hire operations and have an exceptional safety record.

Safety Manager

DPS employ a dedicated Safety Manager to monitor and where possible, improve our safety procedures. Additionally, all team members are trained in safety processes and to liaise with our Safety Manager should they be made aware of any new risk or hazard.

Experienced crane operators and crew

Our expert team are all highly skilled in their roles. They are fully trained and issued with appropriate SafeWork NSW licences and other registrations including;

  • High Risk Work license (HRW license).
  • General Construction Induction (White Card).
  • Heavy Vehicle license.
  • Rail Industry Worker (RIW Card).

Our crew also includes members with their Dogging Licenses and Traffic Control Tickets.

Whatever the role or level of involvement on your project, we ensure that we employ the right people and fully train them to our required high standards.

Vehicle maintenance

All vehicles in our hire fleet receive regular servicing of a high standard and have up-to-date company maintenance schedules. In addition, they are subject to, and pass annual independent Crane Safe Inspections for safety verification. This ensures crane safety for every project.

Work site safety

Maintaining on-site safety is essential, especially when operating heavy lifting equipment such as mobile cranes. With this in mind, we develop a Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) for every project in addition to our in-house WHS Management Plan.

Our Construction Safety Plans investigate numerous site conditions in order to be aware of, plan for and mitigate risk factors. These include;

  • Access. Identifying safe access points to and from a work site.

  • Obstructions. Identifying any obstructions which may impact the operation of our cranes.

  • Sloping ground. Choosing the best setup location and otherwise understanding and mitigating the impact of sloping ground.

  • Underground services. Determining the location of any underground services to avoid any damage or crane operational risk.

  • Power lines. Awareness of any power lines, under or above ground.

  • Fresh Excavations or backfilled excavations. These may prove a hazard to heavy equipment.

  • Reduced visibility. Ensuring clear lines of sight for both crane setup and during lifts.

  • Proper management of counterweights. Understanding the lift requirements combined with the vehicle specifications and tolerances.

  • Outriggers and stabilisers. Determining the best options in any given circumstances.

  • Wind conditions. Awareness and monitoring of wind conditions vs load parameters to ensure safe working tolerances.

  • Surface water. Recognise any surface water and how it may affect crane operations.

  • Ground material. Understanding the ground material and how it will support the weight of a mobile crane plus load.

  • Road travel. Ensuring that your mobile crane has a safe journey from the depot to your work site.

  • Non-slew cranes. Identifying potential travel pathways and any conditions and problem areas that may impact safe operation.

Tool box talk

Every day on site begins with a tool box talk. The day’s goals are outlined and any safety issues highlighted and addressed before operations begin. This maintains crane safety standards whilst realising efficient and successful project outcomes.

Successful outcomes every time

DPS Group’s excellent safety record is our assurance that safe work conditions are as important to us as they are to your projects. If you are seeking safe local crane hire in the Southern Highlands, come and speak with us.
